The TCMS (Temecula Chamber Music Society) performed classical music with sometimes a twist. I had the pleasure of attending their opening in August, and I was at the edge of my seat! The “Classical Rock!” Arrangements were refreshing, combining a new and old sound: a classical twist and turn of Kashmir, Landslide, Vivaldi, Hendrix (Imagine Vivaldi’s summer with a Hendrix Spin! Appropriately, titled, “Manic Summer.”) The arrangements made the grunge rock, sparkle, but my favorite was a violin solo: “Mal Lady!”, a composition by Steve Huber. The Quartet No. 8 by Shostakovich was sublime. How could it not be with our Ruslan Biryukov playing! The short of the long (if you read this far) is wow! We have some amazing musicians/artists here, and they can be heard in a larger symphonic setting with the Temecula Valley Symphony or in an intimate with TCMS - where the closeness allows you to really hear and see the artists close-up. I am ambivalent about writing this review because seating was limited and the last show was sold out. It might hinder my ability to grab the best seats for myself….
